The course discusses the key features of philosophy as a type of worldview, its object, subject, function, place in the system of culture, its relationship with other forms of social consciousness; the historical and philosophical approach is given in the study of the main schools and directions through the prism of historical periods in the development of philosophical thought: Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, the New Age, the Enlightenment, German classical philosophy, post-classical philosophy of the XIX century, the modern period; schools of Russian philosophy and eastern philosophy are being studied; the main philosophical problems are analyzed: the problem of being, dialectics and metaphysics as teachings and methods of thinking, society, activity, cognition, consciousness, the problem of person, problems and contradictions of the information-technological world.

The course is intended for students studying in the direction 21.03.01 "Oil and Gas Engineering".
